Last Hurrah for Summer 2015 part 1 - Amazeum

This is the last week that Beatrice will get to enjoy summer since next Monday she will be back in school and she will be in 1st grade.  So I thought we will do some fun stuff over this week.

We are suppose to swim today at Springdale Aquatic Center with some friends from Playgroup/Preschool but the weather was iffy the forecast was stormy with thunderstorm so we decided to call it off since it won't be a good idea to swim with a nasty weather.  And so I decided to take the kids to the newly opened Scott Family Amazeum in Bentonville, it's a children and families.

After our experience at the Denver Children Museum the summer of 2014, both the kids had a great experience that they talk about it a lot so I thought I would go ahead buy a membership at the Amazeum since it would be to go to over 350 science center and the cost of the membership isn't that bad and I know we would be going there more than once and indeed it was a great place for the kids.

Earlier today my friend Judy called me if we can go to Amazeum today instead of my plan on Wednesday with Agnes since her daughter Florelaine is off from school and I told her if we are done early with our swimming then we can head up there and behold our swim was cancelled so after our morning nap we ate lunch hurriedly and took off and went to Agnes' house in Rogers much to her surprise she agreed and get ready along with her daughter Amanda, Agnes suggested to call Jiji and see if she can come up to Amazeum and indeed she is free and took Bianca with her and then we showed up at Judy's doorstep unannounced and much to her surprise her mother-in-law came up for a surprise visit that same afternoon but she was so gracious enough to let Judy come with us and Florelaine, and we had a blast visiting with each other and while the kids had fun exploring the area and my kids doesn't even want to go home but it's closing time already and we head to Panda Express for dinner.

After dinner all the kids are busy doing knock knock jokes and there was a funny convo between Beatrice and Amanda that I need to record.

Super Hilarious convo with Beatrice and her friends.
Amanda: Beatrice who is your daddy?
Beatrice: He is the boss and tv star!!!
Amanda: (with a surprise look, I mean wide-eyed and jaw dropping look) really your dad is a tv star???
Beatrice: Oh yeah!!!
Amanda: How come you're not rich?
And I told Amanda not all tv star are rich. And she was just happy with my answer and they are still thrilled about Beatrice's daddy. And then Beatrice keep telling her friends that her daddy has a prickly hair as well.
Oh from the mouth of an innocent babe, I had a belly laugh all night.

If you press it down and let it go there's a smoke coming off from that hole.  With Florelaine, Beatrice, Quentin and Amanda.

Beatrice jumped the diving board at SAC

August 8, 20115 - Beatrice jumped from the diving board at the Sprindale Aquatic Center during her last day of swim lesson.  She is getting confident in the deep end of the water and the diving board that she jumped a couple times from the diving board and swam all the way to the wall.

Rising confidence level

After Beatrice finished her 1 week of swim lesson from Swim Ranch, I decided to enroll her for another swim lesson at Springdale Aquatic Center to polish her dog paddle instead she did more than what I expected after 2 weeks of swim lesson.

She swam across the pool, passed the swim test so she can go down the tall slide during our family went swimming since she is 2 inches short from the height requirement and on her last day of swim lesson she jumped a couple of times in the diving board and even tried the other tall slide that is enclosed.  Her confidence level in the water after her second swim lesson for 2 week really improved.

The difference dad got lovin from the kids

Both of my kids are loving and they love to give kisses and hugs.  They may be siblings from the same parent but men they are night and day, Beatrice is more on the gentle side while Quentin is on the rough side it is evident on this pictures I capture this mornng before they head to church.

Beatrice's first day and graduation day from Kindergarten

I'm writing this a year later...

I dreaded this day to happen but at the same time excited for Beatrice's school life.  She starts her formal school(she has her preschool years at the age of 3 at NWA preschool coop where we moms are the teacher) as a Kindergartner at John Tyson Elementary in Springdale where we live.  And I remember vividly when she was 3 years old and trying to teach her some basic school stuff and when she asked why we are doing it, my immediate reply was because when you turn 5 you will be in Kindergarten and she would throw a fit  and declared that she doesn't want to go to Kindergarten and it etched in my heart and worried how she would do when reality is at hand, especially she has her daddy's personality a loner and some kind of a hermit.

But when school start she face it head on and tried her best and did really good at school.  At one point she was selected to be an Ambassador from her class shortly when the school just started. She was the first one who completed reading the first 100 sight words in her class and the only one who got awarded with blue ribbon at the end of the school year for reading the most sight words.  She made friends and enjoyed school a lot more than I imagine it would be and  she does love her yellow reading group under Mrs. Boogaart.

August 14, 2014 they have their open house and she got to try her desk.

August 14, 2014 she got to meet her Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Frankum for the first time.

The first thing Quentin do when we got home after we drop Manang off at school, he went straight to have a tea party since he's always prohibited to play the tea set as he broke the first tea set.

The long awaited reunion after a long day at school

First week of pick up and this was the Friday and she was escorted by Mrs. Frankum

And May 14, 2015 came way too fast it seems like and now my Kindergartner graduated.  Here with Mrs. Frankum and JTE Principal Dr. Sherwood

2 years of hiatius from blogging

I didn't realize that this blog is still in existence after 2 years of not visiting or putting some entry on it.  I've been reading some blog and that's what urges me to revisit this blog of mine.  Maybe this time I could fill the gap with the help of facebook and hopefully keep this blog updated as much as my little brain can muster.
